Armor-Link Mesh - Tour Master and Cortech's original abrasion resistant mesh technology
Balaclava - A thin head mask covering the neck as well with eye slots designed to be worn under the helmet in cold weather
Ballistic Weave - A fabric weave originally developed for bulletproof armor vests, man-made fibers with a ballistic weave are known for their high level of abrasion resistance
Bungee Cord  - A corded device with hooks designed to stretch and hold larger items to the bike
Carbolex ® - A highly abrasion-resistant nylon fabric that is easy to maintain and provides superior long-term durability. Carboflex ® is lighter than leather and 90% of its strength
Cargo Storage System (CSS) - This exclusive system is ingeniously concealed under the front chest pockets. Multiple compartments and an elastic key lanyard make it easy to carry along all the necessities of the road.
CE-Approved Armor - Body armor panels that have passed the appropriate quality assurance tests for safety certification within the European Union. A manufacturer must test both the product and manufacturing process with a qualified third party in order to obtain the certification.
Clarino™ - Synthetic leather that is comfortable, breathable and abrasion resistant
Collar Anchor - A system designed to help eliminate jacket collars from flapping, especially when the collar is opened to increase ventilation
Cuff Vent System (CVS) - Patented ventilation at the sleeve cuff, using a 2-way closure zipper that doubles as a vent
Denier - A unit of measure for the linear mass density of fibers, for comparison, a single strand of silk is 1 denier
Dobby 400 Denier Nylon- A softer nylon material sometimes used in non-impact areas of ladies riding apparel to provide a softer, less stiff feel to the overall garment while maintaining abrasion resistance
DOT certified - Certified by the Dept. of Transportation and its safety standards
Double stitched - An over lock stitch technique that sews 2 panels together and then requires a second fold and additional stitch. This gives the seam an extra level of strength in abrasion situations that a simpler and cheaper sewing technique would not provide.
ECE - U. N. Economic Commission for Europe ECE 22.05 motorcycle helmet safety standard
EVA Foam - A lightweight, closed-cell, plastic foam material that provides good shock resistance
Fourchettes - Strips of material between the fingers of a glove that join the palm and top sections
Hiprotec Comfort Armor - The slimmest, most comfortable CE-approved (Europe's highest standard) armor available. Patented snap-in, positionable fastening system
Hypertex™ Waterproof and Breathable - High Performance Textile with a synthetic membrane designed to keep you comfortable and dry. Rain and wind stay out while still allowing vapor to escape from inside the garment. Hypertex™ Plus is 50% more breathable than the standard Hypertex™
Insulated Liner - Removable liners in either jackets or pants that have insulation material to keep a rider warm in cold weather yet can be removed for warm weather comfort
Kevlar ® - Innovative fiber technology from DuPont ® that is incredibly strong, very light in weight and is best known for its use in bullet proof vests
Mandarin Collar - A short-cut, stand-up type of unfolded collar
Microfiber - Fabric technology that extrudes extremely fine filaments (less than 1.0 denier) allowing for an extremely soft feeling fabric while maintaining all of the strength of other outer wear fabrics
Novelty Motorcycle Helmets - Helmets that are not certified to any standard.
Performance Cut - The tailoring of a jacket to be comfortable in a performance riding position- entailing a lengthened back and pre-curved sleeves to ensure maximum rider comfort while riding aggressively
Phoslite ® - Reflective technology to enhance visibility that is composed of millions of "retro-reflective" lenses bonded to a fabric
Pipeline Ventilation System - Tour Master and Cortech's proprietary system of internal channels within a garment that are designed to maximize ventilation while eliminating garment billowing at speed. Thissystem allows ventilation to pass through the waterproof barrier into the garment's interior while maintaining waterproof properties
Polyfill - An insulating material produced with a random arrangement of fibers that increases warmth to a garment or glove
Polyurethane Backing - A waterproof barrier created by bonding polyurethane onto textiles
Rainblocker™ Liner - Removable, waterproof and breathable garment lining
Rainguard™ - A breathable barrier technology that has pores larger than air molecules but smaller than water molecules to allow perspiration exhaust and eliminate rain or water from penetrating a garment
Ramair ® Ventilation System - Zippered vents strategically placed that can be opened to maximize flow-through ventilation
Scoop Vent System - A hook and loop fastening system that allows a wearer to keep a vent folded open, turning the vent flap into an air scoop that inducts more air into a garment
